Homelander is the most terrifying and complex character in The Boys, presented as the public face of heroism while hiding a deeply unstable and ruthless nature beneath his patriotic image. As the leader of The Seven, he appears calm, charismatic, and godlike, but in reality he is driven by narcissism, emotional trauma, and an obsessive need for control. What makes him especially dangerous is how unpredictable he is: one moment he seeks love and admiration, and the next he becomes violently cruel toward anyone who challenges his authority. Antony Starr’s performance gives Homelander a chilling intensity, turning him into more than just a villain—he becomes the embodiment of corrupted power without limits.

In the newly released fifth and final season of The Boys (which premiered on April 8, 2026), Homelander reaches the peak of his dominance, effectively ruling over America as his personal regime grows darker and more authoritarian. Season 5 shows him no longer pretending to be a flawed hero; instead, he openly embraces his god complex, tightening his grip through fear, propaganda, and the so-called “Freedom Camps.” This season pushes his character into his most dangerous phase yet, as his conflict with Butcher becomes a final war that may decide the fate of all supes. Early episodes reveal a colder, more absolute Homelander less interested in approval, and more focused on total domination making this final version of him the most terrifying one the series has ever shown.
