It has come to my attention that everyone has seen that one TikTok which is misinformation on how to perform certain surgeries. This TikTok is medically inaccurate and irresponsible, it mixes legitimate surgical procedures with the false implication that they can be DIY.
(If you see “shared by MotionMantris” after clicking on this link that’s because he sent me the link ^^)
Just because you know anatomy doesn’t mean you can perform surgery. The post repeatedly says “If you know every layer, nerve and vessel, you’re ready.” No… anatomy is only one part of surgery.
Surgeons spend years learning many
anatomy, tissue handling, hemostasis, sterile technique, anesthesia, wound closure, and complication management. reading Netter’s Atlas does not replace thousands of supervised operations.

Local anesthetic isn’t enough for many of these procedures, the slides act like injecting lidocaine magically makes surgery possible.
Surgeries like genio, rhino, cantho etc are normally performed in operating rooms with monitoring, sterile equipment, and often general anesthesia or deep sedation. Pain control isn’t the only issue.

“No drills. Just precision instruments.”
This is simply false, a sliding genioplasty requires oscillating saws, surgical drills, fixation systems, titanium plates and screws, irrigation and suction.
You cannot perform modern genioplasty with an osteotome and a scalpel.

The complication lists massively understate reality
It says things like “Risk: infection, asymmetry.”
But forgets about uncontrolled hemorrhage, airway obstruction, hematoma, permanent nerve injury, wound breakdown, osteomyelitis, vision loss (certain facial injections), permanent functional impairment and need for revision surgery.
Managing complications is often harder than the surgery itself.

The claim that pressing upward on your hyoid daily permanently improves your jawline has no good clinical evidence.
The hyoid is suspended by muscles and ligaments, you are not remodeling your neck anatomy by pushing on it for a few minutes every day.

Injecting testosterone into the thyroarytenoid muscle is not an established cosmetic protocol for healthy people.
Voice deepening in trans men or hypogonadal men primarily occurs through systemic androgen exposure, not routine intralaryngeal testosterone injections. An incorrect injection can injure the vocal folds and permanently worsen the voice.

The canthoplasty slide makes it sound easy, just cut the tendon, move higher, suture the skin.
In reality surgeons must preserve eyelid support, maintain globe protection, avoid ectropion, prevent corneal exposure, and accurately tension the canthal complex. Millimeters matter.

Rhino is probably the most poorly explained surgery in that slide, it reduces one of the most technically demanding facial operations to reshape cartilage , rasp bone, close.
Actual rhinoplasty requires understanding the nasal support mechanics, airway function, osteotomies, cartilage grafting, valve preservation
and scar contracture
Even experienced plastic surgeons spend years mastering it.

Buccal fat removal is oversimplified, it can be done at home but not the way it is intended to in that slide
The buccal fat pad sits near the branches of the facial nerve, the parotid duct and facial vessels
Removing “about 50%” is meaningless because anatomy varies significantly between people.

it creates false confidence, the TikTok repeatedly says things like “Study anatomy.” & “Don’t rush.”
That implies surgery becomes reasonable if you’re careful enough but it doesn’t.
The limiting factor here is your intelligence. If you’re getting your surgical education from TikTok slides, you’re exactly the type of person who shouldn’t be holding a scalpel.

Almost every procedure shown is a legitimate operation performed by trained surgeons. The misinformation isn’t that these surgeries exist, it’s that the TikTok makes them look like DIY projects that become safe once you’ve memorized anatomy and bought the right instruments. That’s simply not how surgery works, most of you are R words who will fuck it up.
