whats the difference of using the bible as proof to an atheist to showing a history book to a denier of world war 1?

They obviously aren’t gonna listen to it because they don’t believe in it. The Bible isn’t exactly history at all. World war 1 is clearly history.

If you're talking about literal babies in that time frame who were just alive then, sure they are a few here still today, but they did not experience the war other than being displaced due to the war, or hearing stories about it when they are older, all too young to remember.

But this is just an example, when i mentioned the first world war, I couldve said anything like the ottoman empire for example my point would still stand, ww1 is just what came to mind first

So because they were a baby takes away from the fact that they experienced displacement and may have been an orphan. Even if none of them are still around today my point of them being able to share their story and experience still stands regardless.

Of course, it’s just an example. The Ottoman Empire was abolished in 1922. Which could still relate back to the fact people were around to share their stories. Even for older things such as Ancient Mesopotamia like you mentioned in earlier reference there are markings, writings, places of residence, to still prove that they existed.

Ancient Mesopotamia being documented in the Old Testament is reliable but it doesn’t necessarily make me believe it is a book for “history.” If I remember correctly Ancient Mesopotamia was in the Bible because it was Abraham’s homeland, the region where Jacob sojourned, and where the Israelites were enslaved. I’m sure these many other reason but I mainly want to focus on the fact that these people have no verifiable evidence of being real. Of course there can be mentions of real places in the Bible, but does that itself make it historical simply because of that?

   • Some of Paul’s letters (like Romans, 1 Corinthians) are accepted by scholars as authentic 1st-century documents.

Apostle Paul and his missionary journey is a good example of why the Bible could be a historical book. Although there are speculations that Apostle Paul is a false prophet. If I’m not mistaken Paul wrote the New Testament? There are still lots of his journeys under debate on whether if it’s worthy or not, but I’ll give it to you.

The Bible is can be deemed as a historical book but because it also has supposed fictional stories inside of it. It’s not easily deemed as truth worthy because of such. It’s a collection of religious texts and cultural aims. It’s like trying to study about Greek Mythology but you’re reading about Buddhism. You’re not going to get much *important* historical context because you’re reading The Bible. It can have bias and propaganda in it also, there’s no author who’s actually giving you these claims or evidence. It’s just a bunch of stuff that’s been in multiple different history books. Like I said, just because it has historical things mentioned inside of it, does that make it worthy of being an book worthy of history?

I think it’s important to mention the fact that I said “The Bible is real because I’m using evidence from the Bible.” I may have interpreted my words incorrectly or you may have understood, but if anything, I’m saying that the aspect of Christianity in itself is a bit foolish to me.
