I have a history of almost dislocating my right TMJ (from unknowingly chewing those rubber things for jaw some years ago). When I do chin tucks and neck stretches I feel it a bit strain, but it even feels like some of a discomfort when I try to mew (tho I assured that I didn’t press too hard on the palate). Is my technique bad or is it because of my TMJ sensibility? Should I continue mewing or try anything else but that?

It sounds like your TMJ sensitivity is the main issue here, not necessarily bad technique. Mewing and neck stretches can put strain on your jaw, especially if your TMJ is still a bit unstable

From what you’re describing, it seems the real problem is your TMJ being sensitive rather than you using poor technique. Things like mewing or doing neck stretches can easily irritate the joint if it hasn’t fully stabilized yet. As others have pointed out, I am not gonna claim mewing is gonna do mythical wonders for your face. I would regardless suggest to maintain the tongue posture as described in mewing. Though it is okay if you do not press harder onto the palate.
