Discussion Do people have confidence in their ability? or are people creating seller effects that mirror them?

I was just thinking about how easy it is to create external confidence for what amounts to sales. at the same time you can appear confident and maybe even be confident and energetic. You can also develop insecurities and then burn yourself trying to overcome them. What then is confidence in your overall ability? Not external confidence but internal confidence. What reads and what mirrors confidence? How does memory activate internally?
I know fake gurus personally who are absolutely shot internally but can manipulate most people. Is competence confidence self-supplied? Let’s say you own a steel manufacturing plant and have to build something that is far more complex than you ever have built. How do you go over problems without taking a hit to your confidence?
