I don't really say it. It's not that I'm afraid to say it and it's not that I've never said it, but the only times I would say it is if I'm quoting something or someone primarily.

It's mainly a respect thing. The word doesn't mean anything to me, but it means something to someone else, and I don't really have any reason to say it, so why say it?

I'm a grown man though, and so if I'm conveying something to another adult I'm not going to censor myself because the word alone is enough to upset someone regardless of the context I used it in. I'm not going to say "self unalive" for "suicide" because someone hates the word suicide, but I wouldn't intentionally mention suicide around someone who has made it clear it's a subject they don't want to talk about.
