no, r****d. sleep paralysis is a physiological mishap that happens when the brain and body fall out of sync during the transition between sleep and wakefulness. because in normal sleep, muscle tone is switched off during REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. that’s the stage when most vivid dreaming occurs. this paralysis is deliberate, and prevents people from physically acting out dreams. sleep paralysis simply occurs when consciousness returns before muscle control does.
