Do you think phones should be banned during the day at school?

As crazy as this might feel to say(as a 16 year old I do feel like phones should be banned during the school day( "other than at lunch.")
in years leading up to this new law that's been passed in my school district I've noticed how irresponsible people/teens have been with them.
Phones were literally primarily meant for communication and "some" entertainment. Now 89% of the time its for dumbass tik tok dances

ruin learning and can aid in kids getting unflattering pictures taken of them

I do agree with the fact that kids are super irresponsible with phones but I like to believe that they don't have to be banned, but rather kids can potentially be taught to be more responsible. I'm currently a high school student in Texas so this is coming from anecdotal experience.
