It has done good
I agree with that. People have really improved their lives by following a god. But you cant disregard the wars, torture and pain believe has inflicted on people. It has done good
Communism has done worseI agree with that. People have really improved their lives by following a god. But you cant disregard the wars, torture and pain believe has inflicted on people.
If you look at the taliban for example, they are very strict in following the islam. Women can't have an education, can't go out on the street, little girls are being forced into marraige, people get shot if they have another believe. I have some very good friends that follow the islam but i still think it is bad as a wholeit comes naturally,
i actually belive the opposite, i belive the doubt people have divides more then anything.
in a country where all people share the same religion ofc, religous conflicts are another topic.
i belive there has been more good thanks to a god being there, may it be allah, or may it be whoever
hmm
Communism has done harm ndeed but that doesnt disregard my point.Communism has done worse
its done a bit of both
I agree it has done harm but on the other hand science wont be science without the early church. So it’s in the grey zoneCommunism has done harm ndeed but that doesnt disregard my point.
Do you think the human race would have developed better without gods?hmm
its done a bit of both
Nothing I just have the same opinionwhat did I do now.

u do a lot of lurking dont youNothing I just have the same opinion
The church funded most of these scientific studies and Catholics have been a great help to science with different theories and stuff. But now that I think about it, most of science may have still been discovered. How so?
The koran, bible, torah etc. Can be read in infinitly different ways. So if people dedicate their life to a god but interpret their holy book in the "wrong" way (wich if you ask me, most people do) it can cause alot of harmhmm
they dont perform what their god says, the excuse themself in the name of god, which is a sin on its own
Well I was on org but I got perma ban like 2 days ago so I just returned hereu do a lot of lurking dont you
ok we agreeThe koran, bible, torah etc. Can be read in infinitly different ways. So if people dedicate their life to a god but interpret their holy book in the "wrong" way (wich if you ask me, most people do) it can cause alot of harm
son that must suckWell I was on org but I got perma ban like 2 days ago so I just returned here
It sucks assson that must suck
But how so?ok we agree
but back to the og question, i belive we would have done worse without god, and i belive it has done more good
It hasnt done good or bad
comfort, and its natural,But how so?
Thats a good point. To look at it from another perspective i have talked about this with a friend of mine. He said that there will always be people that want to cause harm to others. Doing that trough a god is just a way to cover it up. For example someone being homophobic and christian doesnt neccecerily mean they wouldnt be homophobic if they werent christian. Christianity is just a way to cover it up. Regarding that i still think there have been alot of things that have inflicted harm on the human race that can directly be atributed to the believe that there is a god. But i do think that there is an argument to be made that the idea of god has ultimatly done more good than bad.comfort, and its natural,
no matter how far you look back in history, we have always worshipped something, may it be the sun, the moon, the stars, or the dead.
i belive if we took away the one thing we have praised forever we would do worse in every possible way
agreedT

How so?Holy shit harm its not even close
Religion was made by men who wanted an excuse for all their negative desires (especially in Islam.) Abrahimic religions became a fear tactic to spread their desires and control laws and society overall. Even on the lower levels (as in people who might not directly do bad things) they enable the more negative behaviours religion endorses. How so?
But if those desires where rooted in them, (religion or not) wouldn't they always find an excuse to spread those desires? Then you can't blame religion for those desires.Religion was made by men who wanted an excuse for all their negative desires (especially in Islam.) It could be argued that people are weaker due to religion too.
Only if these men managed to get into power, which unlikely considering how society was run back then. Evilness has always existed, but religion has caused people who would never do and/or accept bad things to do so, therefore religion has spread alot of bad.But if those desires where rooted in them, (religion or not) wouldn't they always find an excuse to spread those desires? My hypothesis it not about if there is a god or not. It's about the idea of god and if that has done more harm than good. You think you’re smart but this is a nobrainer high key. If there is a God (there is, surely) the only harm he has done to us is letting ourselves willingly do damage to others. If we wanted to damage us he could torture all of us equally because he’s omnipotent
I think religion is just a cover up. I agree with you in some points but don't you think that they surely would've found another way to inflict their harm? I do agree that some people have been convinced to do bad things because of religion but i think those type of situations will always happen. If someone has mastered sophistry they can convince most people to do thing (religion or not)Only if these men managed to get into power, which unlikely considering how society was run back then. It would happen, but not on nearly as large of a scale and probably less severeI think religion is just a cover up. I would need to think about that for a longer time to come up with a suficient answer. It would happen, but not on nearly as large of a scale and probably less severe
