It used to be the same decades back in 1st world countries, even in media you'd see it, big confessions in the rain and whatever. Love was shown differently and thrown around less

it's also just that love years ago meant a life long bond of marriage. Marriage is seen as temporary nowadays and people just throw the word around so much that it means that love can be broken and re-made with another person. Rant over, back to studies now.

yh ofc arranged marriages aren't ideal but i feel like the modern concept of love isnt bad per say, it's just relatively underwhelming to the concept it used to be in the past. It says a lot about modern society, MOST feel like love back then was fairytale like. For example, the phrase 'they lived happily ever after' is now associated with fairytales where as people did truly back then meet one another and live like that without having to worry about stuff like cheating, divorce and all.
