Is the English version of Doric?

Doric actually existed though, this is a conlang removing all late latinate and french loanwords. Kinda like PIE reconstructions
What an interesting tongue, I have just began reading upon it. It is a form of nationalism yes? You lot prefer to use saxon original wording instead of Norman or French influenced words.

I think they just use it because it's less synthetic than the romance influenced version, gives that primordial feeling.

Indeed. You can always learn Hungarian if you want something primordial or an older Asiatic tongue.
