Could you explain what tools to use and how to do it?

i use flat surface stuff like currently i am using the thing you smash garlic heads and other stuff like that i think its called a manual press
just go light and dont do it too often but your most likely just gonna get strong bones rather than any mm in size

not really, and its not worth the risk.
most of the results comes from temporary swellings.
actual results you see from those guys who do sports, theyve been doing it for years and taking real blows

How many times a week, for how long at a time and what items

if you want to minimize risk, I would strictly only hit the chin, and while your head is being braced up against something.
