in most interpretations god allows for free will and free will allows for evil. (Most common explanation for evil)

In this argument though god would not have free will.

free will is a useless term because it's very vague and can often contradict the nature of the being it's ascribed to

An omnipotent/all powerful necessary being does not have the ability to cease their own existence, which is why free will (when defined as the ability to do literally anything one wants) is impossible

free will is a retarded concept made up by theologicans, to blame if you did something bad according to their own morality. in fact, all of your actions are determined by genetics, nurture, environment, psychology etc. there's no some uncaused chooser.

free will is just retarded

You made a definition up

I’m saying free will as dominion over your brain.

God is dead

If you feel so strongly about it then you dont

And if I feel so strongly about it the other way then I do.

Free will has to be recognized as a option before it can be choosen

your brain makes decisions before you're even aware of it, free will just doesn't exist truly

so free will as an absurd shit
find if you believe that you grooming in your room is your unchanging destiny and every twitch of the wrist is all dictated from the start of creation then continue to believe it

That’s a you thing.
Reflexes are real.
But you can have input over your thoughts… it’s doable

What I said is a scientifically proven concept

not really, since your brain=you. there's no some abstract soul distinct from brain

i mean, you can choose to believe in that but it doesn't make the concept to be true

most people don’t look both ways before they cross the street but that does not mean there is NO way to tell if a car will hit them

you aren't wrong but the conscious parts of yourself still play a part in the final decisions that you make which i believe points to the fact that we have free will

Think of your brain and observe your thoughts let your mind run and listen to your brain
Do it for 5 sec rq

Now turn the camera onto the observer and try to listen to that

In this thought experiment you will notice you can listen to your brain but there is a unknown observer higher up the food chain

You don’t even know what that means
I know that Nietzsche didn't mean that God was literally dead but was talking about secularism, I just don't care and think the way I say it is cooler

Your consciousness only can really help with planning, processing regret and what you want to make out of your actions more or less

if your consciousness plans future actions later carried out then that sounds like free will as you are choosing what to do

I mean peoples planning abilities i'd say is also partially genetics, so I'm not too sure about that. I don't doubt that to some extent you can choose stuff but I just don't think it meaningfully matters in any way that it counts as "free will"

genuinely what does this even mean

your brain would observe your own thoughts that were in the past bruh not in the present

yes i think He does

you could say that he doesnt have free will since he is inherently good and unable to sin
but i think the general opinion is he does have free will? not sure tbh
