i'm not questioning whether medication works i'm questioning the claim that its benefits are merely perceived rather than evidence based i take ritalin for add so i'm asking because i want to understand the reasoning
For hormones for example you can defintly follow the pathways and can predict what happens so it evidence based

For medication like ritalin its also evidence based as in testings, but i am not sure tbf

Ofc they’re evidence based; why would two groups - placebo, actual drug - in a blind trial all produce different results otherwise

ja ich hatte das gefühl es wirkte eine Zeit lang aber die Wirkung hat deutlich nachgelassen nach einiger Zeit deswegen frage ich mich selber möge dies mit dem sogenannten „placebo-effekt“ zutun haben?

Ritalin is insane

If you have ADHD you should take Rit
If you have depression you should take Rit

Everyone should take Rit

Ritalin has been proven to work and it's safety profile is really good. If you are using standard doses, then it's mostly a purely positive drug for you UNLESS you really can't handle it

Aside from helping you stay "wired", it promotes wakefulness and reduces executive dysfunction. So if you have ADHD/ADD and "depression" (which is common because the executive dysfunction from the former leads to a lifestyle that promotes depressive symptoms) then it greatly helps in that area as well

And of course, very short half life, it's out of your body at the end of the day. No long term side effects from short term use and long term users don't really get any issues as well. It's very safe and short acting

So say you really can't handle Rit, no big deal, hop off it and you'll be dandy the next day. It's not like an SSRI or SNRI where you have to detox for long periods of time

TLDR : It's a no brainer to try, it's safe, it promotes wakefullness and increases cognitive capabilities and again, it's a no brainer to try

Ritalin is less like a typical neurodrug and more like caffeine tbh

Really depends on the person, your baseline may just be higher or you just aren't as sensitive to it.

10mg for example makes me wired, I took 20 + 10 + 30 LA just now and I feel euphoric

10mg at one point of time used to get me euphoric as well but very quickly it faded. Though when I am sleep deprived on rare occasions, I can notice that that 10mg still actually works. The illusion of getting used to the heightened heartrate and what not made me seem like I developed a strong tolerance for it

My personal anecdote

Some people report taking up to like 80mg a day for general focus. In Scandivanian countries from what I read, some people get prescribed more than that
