What is dimorphism? (Many of you already know this shit so feel free to skip over this part):

Dimorphism is about traits that differ between males and females. Basically it is how “feminine” or “masculine” you appear depending on your gender. If you are a male who naturally has a bunch of prominent feminine features, then you’d have low dimorphism. Or if you are a woman who has a very hyperfeminine seeming face, then that means you have high dimorphism.

What is ideal?:

When it comes to men and women, most would prefer the opposite gender who has at least medium-high dimorphism. Faces with very low dimorphism are unideal (but at the same time, there are still some people out there who find hyper androgyny attractive).

A model/attractive face usually includes a nice combination of feminine and masculine features.

Not everyone needs to have a face that is giga dimorphic, and from what I’ve seen it’s even better to have a bit of androgynous features. It’s actually very interesting because there’s science that backs this up. I genuinely haven’t heard anybody talk about this before, but usually when you are attracted to someone, they share at least one of your features. It’s funny because this kind of connects to the whole “siblings or dating” shit.

It’s called the similarity-attraction theory. You’ve probably heard of this before because it’s just the mere theory that you are attracted to people who are similar to you. But what’s special about it, is that you aren’t just attracted to people with similar attitudes, but also who share similar physical characteristics as you!

If you wanna see this in play, just take a look at some couple that goes to your school or something. Every single couple that I’ve seen, shares atleast one small similar feature. Whether it’s that they have very similar smiles or something like the same ipd (eye distance).

So how does this theory connect to what I’m saying?

Well what I mean is that, let’s say you are a girl who develops a crush on a guy. A girl obviously has different features than a man. Features that are deemed more feminine (like a smaller lower third or fuller lips). So according to the theory, the guy you are attracted to might have atleast one of your “feminine” features! So this is why I believe this theory connects to dimorphism in a way. Women are going to naturally find men who have subtle feminine features appealing. “Pretty boys”. Men as well will find girls who have subtle “masculine” features attractive. Like a strong jawline, or hunter eyes.

IMG_7950.jpeg

For women:
Medium-high dimorphism is ideal.

For men:
Medium-high. Of course, high dimorphism is pretty ideal in both genders. However, one of the best things about having medium/lower dimorphism as a guy is that depending on how well your facial harmony is, you can try to lean into the pretty boy archetype. It’s very appealing and if you look at the whole Chico vs Jordan debate, most women will choose Chico because of his pretty boy appeal.

For both genders, when dimorphism is deemed “too high” it’s actually deemed unattractive. No, I’m not taking about a face like this.

How to improve (mostly softmaxx/tips):

Eye area:

Use a castor oil lash serum and try out oral minoxidil for brow and lash growth. The ordinary lash serum is also a popular one. Growing your lashes and brows out is important for both men and women. “Thin” brows are a falio. Medium/lower set brows are also ideal for both genders aswell (and a very dimorphic trait for men). So growing out the hair around your lashes and brows is important to give that illusion. Tinting/dying lashes is also a popular thing to do, but I would advise you to be very careful with something like that because there have been cases where it’s caused peoples lashes to fall out. But many have done it successfully without any trouble like that. Dying your brows is also important. Your brows should be about two shades darker than your hair color. The color you dye your lashes is also pretty important based off of your skin tone. Blue black is better if you have cooler skin undertones, and solid black is better if you’ve got redder undertones.

IMG_8040.jpeg

For women, it’s also important to know what kind of eye shape you have so that when you do your makeup you know how to enhance it. Now I’m no expert on eye shapes so I won’t further elaborate on this, but there are plenty of guides out there that can help you. But for women, almond eyes are standard.

Midface:

The shorter a girls midface is, the more dimorphic it is. It’s also just more attractive in general and is seen in many models. Your midface is from your lower eyelids down to your upper lip. This is also a reason why a shorter philtrim is ideal, because it will shorten your midface. There’s not much you can do to shorten your philtrim other than hardmaxxing and getting a lip flip or something. So over lining your lips just a bit can fraud the illusion of a shorter philtrim. Lower set brows are also something that can make the face look “shorter”.

IMG_7991.jpeg

A 1:1 midface ratio is ideal. For men, it’s a bit of an exception tho because they tend to have longer midface than women. For women I’d say it’s more important.
IMG_7993.jpeg

Lips:

Full lips are a huge dimorphic staple in women. But for men, I’d say they don’t matter as much. But obviously if they have lips that are genuinely non existent, then it’s something they should worry about. Lip care isn’t very complex, just make sure to wear some Vaseline every day/night. For some color, you can look into overnight lip masks. Yes those are a thing, you can find plenty of them at Target or Sephora. Now, if you want to increase your lip size, there’s only a few things you can do. For one thing you can get an intense lip plumper because they basically irritate your lips into them plumping up (temporary). You can also dermaroll your lips and use volufiline afterwards. I haven’t heard a single person say it doesn’t work. I myself have used volufiline on my lips and it definitely does cause minimal effects, but if you combine it with dermarolling it should work very well. (I think I might try this out myself soon so lmk if you would like updates). Volufiline is known to be a “cope” product because of how many fake ones have been advertised online, so when your looking for one you need to be careful which one you decide to spend your money on (do NOT buy one for under $20). It’s not a product for everyone. The most popular one (I bought) is the one from cosmetic boosters on Amazon.

An important ratio having to do with your lips is your nose to mouth width ratio.

IMG_8050.jpeg

For women, a 1:1.618 is ideal nose to mouth width ratio. But for men on the other hand, it’s 1.5. Wider mouths make your nose appear smaller and are an attractive feature to have. They are linked to higher attractiveness in women as well.
IMG_8047.jpeg

There are only certain things you can do to improve this. For one thing, a narrow palate is correlated with a smaller mouth. So if you have a narrow palate, a palate expander is the solution. It’ll make your smile widen overtime. However, in some cases people can have wide palates but their nose is the main issue.

IMG_8046.webp

(I’m aware the dude in this pic has a small mouth, I just couldn’t find any other examples)

If you have a good palate but a big nose, you need to focus on shrinking your nose instead. Getting your acne in check can reduce inflammation around your nose (making your nose smaller), so make sure you have a skincare routine. Hydrocortisone cream is also a popular option, but it’ll only thin the skin around your nose. It’s also fear mongered because it’s a steroid. In more intense cases, rhinoplasty is always an option.

For women, you can also fraud this ratio by using lip liner to extend the corners of your mouth a bit.
