Essentials for Media Literacy Recommendations? (Classics)

Hello,

I'm an avid reader but I feel sometimes like I haven't really read the important books. I've enjoyed a few light philosophy books, but they're so terrible back-to-back.. what "classic" books would you suggest that feel meaningful and timeless? I think the only things that meant something on that level to me were The Picture of Dorian Gray, Lolita, and Jurassic Park. I would perhaps include Billy Bat but it's not really on theme. I just don't really like consuming media that actually feels significant "side by side" while working on something, so I don't do it as much as I ought to. I'm not unfamiliar with the purple-y prose of older books though, so don't be shy!
