Hey, for reference I’m 23. I had issues about a crossbite come up at the dentist and I have always had issues with my facial symmetry (I have a deviated septum, uneven jawline)

Anyways, went to the orthodontist today and he took some X-rays. Apparently, I have a cross bite on a few teeth and overcrowding, as well as an assymetry on my lower jaw. He said that my upper maxilla wasn’t expanded enough and said I should have had expanders as a kid but now that my jaw is fused it’s no longer possible.

He recommended IPR and Invisalign to (decrease?) arch of teeth on lower jaw. I’m scared that this is just camouflage ortho rather than fixing the underlying issue. He also says my air way is smaller than usual but nothing to be concerned about.

I’m now wondering whether all my underlying assymetries in my face are related to not getting the upper maxilla expander. Is there any safe way to do this as an adult and will anyone actually agree to treat me given my issue doesn’t have much of a medical concern (only mild OSA and a preference towards mouth breathing when sleeping)

Talk to your orthodontist about MARPE + Invisalign, IPR won't do shit to your upper jaw

expanding the upper jaw is possible, but what is more complicated is to expand the width of the palate.

you should post pictures
