EXPLAINING THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PSL AND APPEAL.

Appeal - specific characteristics of appearance that we tend to prefer in men/women (facial averageness, race, colouring, facial harmony, facial dimorphism, body, height etc.)

We use psl to understand how attractive a particular person is only using facial proportions, ratios like fwhr, facial thirds, ipd, chin to phil ratio etc. But it doesn't fully describes what women prefer in men.






Example of man with high psl but bad appeal

Highly attractive face according to psl measurements but very low appeal. Low averageness, overly masculine face, overly masculine body. No girl would simp over this guy.





Example of man with low psl but high appeal.
According to psl this guy is mtn or very low htn at best. But he has good balance between feminine and masculine features, good facial averageness, good body, good hair etc.). He has 23m tiktok account and thousands of girls simping over him right now. Would he become so popular among girls if he looked like gigachad? I don't think so.




What is more important? Appeal or psl?
Both are important. You still need to have somewhat symmetrical face even if you have good appeal.

Appeal is what gets you laid so I'd have to say that it's way more important. Also, appeal can be altered because it's not just about facial aesthetics. Your body language and how you move you're eyes can add tremendously to your overall appeal.

Yeah appeal is not only about aesthetics. It's also about how you act. For example my sister love confident guys with deep voices. But in this thread I wanted to talk specifically about aesthetics

psl doesn’t involve facial averagness or other things I didn’t mention about appeal. That’s why I put “etc.”. It’s not like appeal and psl are completely different things, they overlap in many ways. But at the same time, calling them the same things is pretty stupid. No one would worship Barrett or other aliens on looksmaxx forums.
