Hello everyone,

Since I was around 10 years old, I’ve noticed that my face is asymmetrical. My left eye is higher than my right eye, and my jaw is shifted to one side. My face looks really bad to me – small and uneven – and it affects how I feel about myself every day.

I used to always sleep on my stomach, on the right side. I think that might have contributed to the problem. I’ve tried mewing, but it hasn’t helped. Lately, I’ve been able to fall asleep on my back, but I always wake up on my right or left side (at least now I can sleep on the left side, which I couldn’t before).

I’m 16 now, and I honestly feel like I can’t live a normal or happy life because of how I look. It’s really painful to deal with. I’m hoping someone here might understand or have advice or ideas that could help me.

Thank you so much to anyone who takes the time to read this and respond.

at 16 i don’t think sleeping position will do a significant amount - definitely not for your eyes anyway. If you want you can try locking yourself in position using pillows that’s what i did. it gave me sleep paralysis for like 3 nights but ever since i’ve slept on my back fine

for jaw you could maybe chew on the underdeveloped side but that will only really affect the masseter not much else

i struggle with similar for eyes and unfortunately surgery is the way

forgot to add you probably see yourself as more asymmetrical than you actually appear to others

solution 😄

Your asymmetry is probably about average or just slightly above. You most likely suffer dysmorphia, but perhaps I'm wrong and you actually look like an asymmetric abomination. Best way for you to tell is how people treat you. Do they treat you like you look disabled or treat you like a normal person?

You have hemi-facial canting. This can be improved significantly through orthodontics. Go to an ortho ASAP or do it yourself like me.

es, people see me as a monster. In middle school, several people told me I had a crooked chin or that my head was tilted. I even tried to break my jaw so doctors would fix it, but it didn’t work. When I laugh or hang out with people, I feel like the moment they look at me, they’re disgusted. On top of that, I live in France, and after the age of 16, surgery becomes expensive (I absolutely can’t afford it), and I think it’s not even allowed here.
