You are so right. And that’s because in a male dominated environment. Jealousy and Envy run rampant, people that are quiet about their plans and progress. Almost always do better, because as a man subconsciously we are competing with other men on basically every aspect of life, looks, money, the girlfriend you have, the car you drive, what you do for a living etc. Which makes it paramount that as a man you really do hustle and work in silence, people will always hate. And ask why you switched up or why you don’t come around them no more. But once You are laid on on a beach somewhere with a heinous amount of cocktails, and a nice girl next to you. The visions of negativity and whispers from the past will vanish from thought. As it all came down to believing in yourself. And not listening to anybody with ulterior motives. Especially envious Pakistani scum.

but in this sense, the faking it part probably indirectly leads them to a very wide exposure of the certain hobby or field they are interested in, maybe they're more likely to explore the ethos of that given topic/field through a very different lens VS someone who just doesn't do the same

reminds me of some peers I know who have had a lot of success in the CS space after they've graduated, not because they were better but because they made shitty portfolio websites, attended events and competitions they had no business competing in etc.
