Genuine question is this pedophilia

I mean it's a 2.5 years gap so nothing crazy, but it will be better when both partners are in their +20s, because a 16yo boy/girl is still immature dating wise
Hypothetically what if she was 15 BUt shes turning 16 in 2 months so practically 16

I'm going to take a hard stance here and just say yep, wrong in most cases. I was radically different two years ago and far less mature. Edating lowers that inhibition even further. Maybe if you were 18 dating a 16 year old IRL with a valid get-together story it'd fly, but you're defending a pretty significant edge case here that you should just let go of ASAP.

Perhaps I am dramatizing the situation, only because you're very obviously on the cusp of entering it. If you haven't done anything, you have zero commitment, and the only attachment you have to making this relationship work is some shallow spark / FOMO. If I could show you that it's a bad idea and you have so little to lose... why not leave it ASAP?

Also, IRL dating vs EDating is incredibly different, as someone who has technically done both. In extreme shorthand, a lot of the psychosocial elements of dating aren't properly read by your brain when you're not in person (because that was never meant to happen) so you constantly exist in the idea of who you're dating + the glamor of long distance love + instant gratification. IMO it removes almost all of the healthy parts of dating and really online-dating should only be used by people who can manage the nosedive of falling in love

My main concern is maturity gap, not really the age/years
