Art Deco is the best song my future wife forced me to listen to, imo
I have some deal with @glamora to listen to 3 Lana Del Rey albums, does is still count as listening if I change the audio files for some JPEGMAFIA ?

depends on which era u want to get into, if you like her earlier shit listen to:

Born To Die: radio, diet mtd, dark paradise, born to die, ride (paradise ver)

Ultraviolence: shades of cool, pretty when you cry, black beauty, florida kilos, (the whole album is beautiful tbh, suprisingly lanas least fav album)

Honeymoon: Honeymoon, high by the beach, salvatore, art deco, freak

her newer shit

Lust for life: love, cherry, white mustang, get free (not much of my faves in here tbh)

Norman Fucking Rockwell: the whole album.

cotcc: skip worthy, some good songs

Blue Banisters: Thunder, Sweet Carolina, living legend, dealer, violet for roses, textbook

hey it’s good
I disagree. I personally think that while this album is produced pretty lushly with grand instrumentation Lana falls flat lyrically and vocally. Some painfully underwritten choruses and self-indulgent cuts make this album an headscratcher. Take the title track for example, it doesn't add much lyrically to its narrative to not make it seem like it's romanticizing domestic abuse. Or Brooklyn Girl which doesn't have any kind of punch to not be a valid depiction of the East Coast lifestyle.

Lana Del Rey’s aesthetic is a hollow pantomime of Americana, a curated, beige-tinted fever dream that mistakes surface-level signifiers of "tragedy" for genuine depth. Her entire discography is essentially a mood board masquerading as music, relying on a repetitive, breathy vocal fry that prioritizes a singular, drowsy aesthetic over actual lyrical innovation. While her adherents insist on the "cinematic" quality of her work, it is, in reality, a performative exercise in aestheticized passivity—a romanticization of the very powerlessness she purports to critique. She functions more as a brand than an artist, meticulously crafting a retro-glamour persona that feels like it was focus-grouped to appeal to the exact demographic most likely to mistake aesthetic melancholy for profound existential insight.
