yes it does and you have to section your hair

I'd recommend buying one that's on the smaller side so its easier to handle if you have short hair, also maybe one with temp setting/made for ur hair texture. Too hot you could cook it, too little and it doesn't do much. Also heat protection is prolly a good idea, frankly i wouldn't know since i don't use it. Work by sections at a lower heat to see how it looks first, then go from there.
