i just want to see those who've hurt me torn to shreds. but if they deserve to face justice, i do to.

My name is Patrick Bateman. I'm 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a water activated gel cleanser. Then a honey almond body scrub. And on the face, an exfoliating gel scrub. Then apply an herb mint facial mask, which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.
There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me. Only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.

My name is Pawan Bharti. I’m 27 years old. I don’t have much, but I believe in keeping myself fit and presentable. Early in the morning, before going for my daily labour work, I wash my face with cold water—sometimes I even use a cloth dipped in chilled water to reduce the puffiness. While it sits on my face, I do my sit-ups. I can do quite a lot now; it keeps me strong.

After that, I use whatever basic face wash I can afford from the local shop. When I bathe, I use a simple soap, and sometimes a homemade scrub my mother taught me—just a bit of gram flour and turmeric. For my face, I gently scrub with it to keep the skin clean. Once a week, I apply a herbal paste—neem or multani mitti—which I leave on while I get ready for the day.

I don’t use fancy aftershave, just a mild one without too much alcohol so it doesn’t dry my skin. Then a bit of coconut oil or simple moisturizer to keep my face from cracking in the heat.

There is an idea of a Pawan Bharti—people see me and think they know me. But sometimes, I feel like I’m just another man trying to survive, an ordinary fellow among millions. You can talk to me, shake my hand, maybe think our lives are similar… but deep inside, I often feel like I am fading, like there is some emptiness I can’t explain. As if I am here, but not completely.
