Title, I’m 17 and just graduated from high school. I need to get a job, but it’s so difficult. I’m currently going on google maps and finding stores near me and applying through their website, as well as Indeed whenever they post new hirings.

Nothings working, I’ve applied to at least 50 jobs in the past month and I haven’t even gotten a job interview. I don’t even get messaged back, I’ve only been messaged back twice and it’s been them informing me that I was rejected

Wow there’s no way the job market is this bad right now 😢
The best way is through connections, if that not an option you just have to continue putting yourself out there
Do I ask my friends who have jobs to put me on?

Do I just call and say like “Hi, I submitted a job application about a week ago and I was wondering if there’s any updates?”

The pay is actually pretty solid for most jobs, it’s just ridiculously difficult to get ons

I’d ask someone to look over your resume just in case there’s anything you can improve

you can use connections to refer u, mayb ask family, friends or anyone yk

or since u js graduated u can start tutoring, get sum students build a lil side hustle then u can put that on ur resume saying shit like client management, class planning, whole lotta waffle

i hear being a paperboy is easy tho they hire anyone and u can put that in ur resume saying shit like time management, efficiency, etc

then that way it should be easier to get a job since u have at least sum work exp

i think printing out ur resume going to the stores u wanna apply for in person and asking whether they are hiring, if they want a copy of ur resume, etc works better than applying online or at least thats wat i saw from when i worked at a supermarket the ppl who gave resumes irl were able to start small talk with the managers whilst there and that led them to land the jobs as opposed to ppl who js applied online

what type of jobs are you applying for
I’m applying to fast food and retail stores. I’ve applied to like 40 in the past couple of days, I’ll start calling soon in a few days. Hopefully it works

Yeah you’re right, experience would probably make it easier. It’s just hard because even jobs like tutoring are difficult to get into. I’ve genuinely tried applying everywhere, even jobs that are supposed to be easy to get into

u could try private tutoring instead of applying to work at tutoring centres that way u can be ur own boss which looks better on the resume

but yeah jobs r hard to find these days
