I want to be of help to others, how can I do that? I want to make my life feel less bitter, even if it's only for a short while.

Do people really like it when someone changes?

Just try to be positive every day, smile at people and all that

I didn’t explain the context properly. Let’s just say I have a ‘controversial’ reputation. People respect me but are wary of me, so they don’t get very close to me. Should I try with ‘strangers’?
I can be very useful, but I find it hard to get past the initial hurdle

Act happier and try to approach others
If you seem nice and trustworthy more people would like you and request help from you

Opposite of me, basically. I’ll give it a go. Will be super tiring
It’s particularly hard to convince people who know me that I’ve changed, and it feels strange

My question wasn’t really a question

I have far more skills than most people do
Making them available is harder than you might think. Fair reply
Try to be in social circles or be in people's proximity you feel like you could help

From the people that I know that suffer from the same problem, they're friendly but if you were stuck as a political prisoner in Afghanistan and had only one phone call you wouldn't call them

Honestly I think the problem is that a lot of people just say too much, and act "goofy" in a way.

Does this describe you? Or what is it?

Well you might be extremely dry with no shown emotion.

Heres the thing. Based on neuroscience on how trust forms, is when one party is vulnerable in a way and shows his weakness to the other party.

Think of it it's only logical. You're scared of a 195cm muscular tough looking man until he "shows his weakness" and laughs at your joke/smiles/whatever.

Not that hard to apply, just act as more of a friend around people. Sounds like generic advice but I mean it.

Does it make sense? Do u think this will solve it?
