first grow it out, and ask him for his opinion on what kinda perm u should get but go w smth classic, like this, and tell him to not make it so short from the sides

no worries, tell him u want it longer at the top so no razor if it absolutely NEEDS a trim then trim a bit around the edges but nothing more than half an inch or an inch, keep the length. tell him to js focus on shaping and texturing the ends mostly
