I am still clueless about what appeal means to be honest, I sort of know but is there a clear definition for what involves "appeal".
Does it mean just anything thats not your facial features like style, hair type, hairstyle, athletic physique etc.

I wouldn't really want to speak on the hair but I've never really seen a trend with dreadlocks where thinner braids = better for men, only for women. I would stick to thicker braids for sure to make it look fuller.
