Theoretically it works like mewing, but it uses more force I guess? Could potentially work when you're in puberty, I think it's cope tho, but you have nothing to lose.

It’s cope for idiots who are trying to replicate what a palate expander achieves. A palate expander separates the palatine sutures with a constant force and it works because it’s controlled and over a long period of time. Thumbpulling technically can separate the sutures, but it’s pointless as the soft tissue will revert everything back into place.
