I started a skincare routine recently and wanted to introduce a retinoid into my routine for my mild acne with scars. I wasn't sure where to start, so I just bought the CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Serum and have started using it once every few days. From what I've read, it seems to be too weak. I'd also like to use it for the anti-aging benefits, but it's for acne primarily.
I've read about all these different retinoids like retinal, adapalene, and tretinoin, and I'm not sure if what I have right now is good enough. There's also the issue that adapalene and tretinoin are not OTC in Europe, so I can't really use those.
Am I supposed to use a weaker version before I upgrade to something stronger? What should be my next upgrade, and what should I stick with eventually?
Also, I've used it a few times and have not had any irritation or purging whatsoever.
Thanks.
