Skincare routine
When you're doing skin care, you shouldn't be putting 100 products on your face. Overuse of skin care can lead to irritation, breakouts, and clogged pores. Instead, you should only use 3 things.
Morning routine:
1. Wash your face with cold water and then dry it on a clean towel. When you wash your face in the morning, you should never wash it with a cleanser. This is because when you wake up, your face has certain oils that moisturize your skin and help prevent acne. Washing them off with a cleanser will dry your skin out and cause an increase in irritation and acne. Always use a clean towel to prevent acne, and washing with cold water will close your pores, stopping them from being clogged.
2. Put on a moisturizing spf- Sunscreen is an important tool that people do not always take seriously. You should be wearing sunscreen every day as protection from the sun's radiation. Sun damage adds up over the years, leading to premature aging. Wearing sunscreen also prevents dark spots and an uneven skin tone. I like to use the Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer.
Night routine:
1. Wash your face with a gentle face wash with cold water- Please do not use those acne scrubbing face washes. All they do is cause irritation on your skin and make it dry out. Use a gentle face wash to keep your face moisturized and prevent acne. I like to use the Burt's Bees Gentle Cream Cleanser with Aloe.
2. Moisturize your face with a night cream- Again, try to use a gentle night cream that keeps your face free from irritation. I like to use the Burt's Bees Calming Night Cream.
Diet:
As much as skincare is important, diet is important as well. What you put in your body tends to show on your skin. So here are some foods to eat for healthier skin:
1. Fatty Fish- Fish like Salmon and sardines are filled with omega-3 fatty acids, which keep your skin moisturized
2. Avocados- They are rich in Vitamin E, and are beneficial for skin hydration
3. Nuts and seeds- Nuts like walnuts, chia seeds, and flax seeds are also high in omega-3s and help reduce inflammation
4. Fruits- Most fruits, especially strawberries, are packed with Vitamin C, which produces collagen. Oranges and Kiwis do the same.
5. Dark chocolate- Dark chocolate is high in antioxidants, which improve skin hydration and texture
6. Green tea- Helps protect the skin from sun damage
7. Kimchi and other fermented foods- Helps with gut health, which has a direct correlation with skin health
Other tips:
1. Drink water- The average female should be drinking around 11.5 cups of water per day, while the average male should be drinking 14.5. Reduces wrinkles.
2. Don't pick or touch your skin- Our fingers are filled with oils, and when these oils touch our skin, they can cause acne
3. Don't eat fatty or junk foods
