i really want to have nice natural nails. i work with my hands a lot and my natural nails are cut very short. i have dry hands, i feel like they look gross since my cuticles aren’t pushed down properly, the sides of my nails look a bit crusty/flaky, and when i try to grow them out they snap/break easily :sadge:

i have a nail kit but feel like i’m prepping my nails wrong all the time. i push down on my cuticles and they start to bleed. i use lotion and nail oil sometimes but i feel like it doesn’t work. everything feels dry and flaky.

please help. i just want pretty nail beds and soft looking hands.

omg I love this question bcs i luv to take care of my nails so heres what i do..
- if u work with ur hands alot, i would reccomend to keep ur nails short. its better to have short healthy nails in ur case
- for ur hands, i had the same probem. what i did is after every shower/hand wash or wtv id slobber vaseline all over my hands. I had one of those mini vaselines in my pockets all the time with me. it made my hands soo soft over time
- instead of focusing on pushing back ur cuticles, focus on making them stronger instead. i used jojoba oil for my cuticles and it helped sooo much especially during the wintertime
- my routine every night is before i go to sleep, i put a whole bunch of vaseline on every night, and rub jojoba oil on my cuticles.
- my nail shape is horrible tho, bcs i "expermented" by cutting them when i was younger. if urs arent messed up, id suggest learning how to properly shape and file ur nails. Try to buff them atleast once a week.
- also a sign of dry/dehydrated nails is also a sign of dehydration, so make sure ur drinking enough water!
im not sure if this is the best advice, but coming from someone who had the worst hands ever this has helped me sm. goodluck!!

try l'occitane!!! their hand cream and cuticle oil keep my hands sooo pretty and soft it genuinely makes you look more put together
i'd get a gel manicure so it doesnt chip as easy while you work but keep it natural and short
it's best to go to a nail salon and have them cut your cuticles, esp if yours bleed
theyre a lil pricy but honestly so worth it imo i use both of these so much and i have very soft hands

keep in mind that vaseline is occlusive so it just locks in whatever moisture is already there
putting on a moistourizing cream before the vaseline will improve this a lot <3

thank you!! i used to get gel manicures very rarely and i always enjoyed them when i did. never had great luck doing my cuticles myself so i might just have them do it like you suggested :peepoLove:

Yes!! i cant believe i forgot that

Let your nails natural fully, nail glue ruins my nails so bad and about growth it depends on person, even thought I noticied more strong growth when I wear clear nail polish

woooow your nails are absolutely goals :peepoLove: thank you so much! i have clear nail polish and will be utilizing it

you should invest in a kit if you cant get a kit just get min nail siccorcs, moistorize your hands and look into some nail and cuticule oils to get rid of thr flakiness and dryness, dont try to grow your nails really long at first go a little by little and cut them thell grow stronger on their own after a while, try to not get your nails wet as much as possible as it weakeanss the nails. look up some tutorials on how to prep your nails properly your probably being too aggressive going too deep if your cuticles are bleeding, be gentle the more you do this little by little your nails will become stronger with time
