I have an 100% overbite and can also only open my mouth around 20mm i cant rlly afford anything that wont be covered by insurance and I can rlly use help to figure out what type of surgery would be helpful

I have looked into double jaw surgery but until I have the money for a jaw shave im not gonna look into it beacuse my jaw already looks prominent

if u have severe skeletal overbite + SUPER limited mouth opening. braces alone prob won’t fix it. this isn't just cosmetic, surgery might be needed medically/functionally. main surgical fix is orthognathic surgery. could be upper jaw (Le Fort I), lower jaw (BSSO), or double‑jaw surgery depending on how misaligned your jaws are. sometimes chin surgery (genioplasty) is added for function + aesthetics. insurance might cover it if it’s medically necessary (chewing, speaking, airway), but not if it’s purely cosmetic. recovery is long: pre‑op braces, surgery, post‑op braces, mouth exercises, whatever doc says. risks: infection, or limited opening even after.
