I cant stop thinking about how im gonna get old

well stalin was in fact a facist, any dictatorship is facism… Im taking about democratic socialism, educate yourself maybe and then come talk to me
are you retarded?? maybe pick up a history book. Joesph Stalin despised facism and believed it was a silly way of condemning the issues with capitalism. Fascism and socialism are both authoritarian ideologies but arent relatively the same thing. Seems to me like you clearly dont know what the difference between them is. And also ps democratic socialism would never work you idiot, the world isnt sunshines and rainbows.

Socialism doesn’t have to be authoritarian, hence democratic socialism. It definitely can work, our government chooses not to do it because it doesn’t benefit them. Politicians are bought out by corporations, corporations benefit by having laws passed that allow them to have tax cuts and make even more money. while the working class pays out the ass in taxes and works to death. The wealth gap is only going to get bigger if we don’t start changing these systemic issues by doing public funding for healthcare/education and unionization. Look at majority of nordic countries and see how well it works for them. Don’t be such a bootlicker

First, Stalin wasn't a fascist. Fascism and communism are different ideologies, even if both can become authoritarian. Saying "any dictatorship is fascism" is historically inaccurate. you're arguing for democratic socialism, but most of the Nordic countries you point to aren't actually socialist. They have private property, free markets, privately owned businesses, and strong capitalist economies combined with welfare programs and labor protections. most economists would classify them as social democracies or mixed- market economies, not socialist states.

I have no issue with discussing healthcare reform, education funding, or reducing corporate influence. however saying capitalism is the root cause of most systemic problems is a huge oversimplification. Corruption, inequality, and abuse of power have existed under capitalist, socialist, monarchic, and communist systems alike.

My concern with democratic socialism isn't that it automatically becomes Stalinism. It's that expanding state control over larger parts of the economy can create inefficiencies, higher tax burdens, and greater concentration of political power. History shows those risks are worth taking seriously, even if the intentions are good. You cant assume that just because we put the people in power means that all our problems will vanish. Not everyone has good intentions and if they did the world would be much better.

And disagreeing with your politics doesn't make someone a bootlicker, id argue rooting for socialism does though.

Fair point on Stalin, I was wrong to call him a fascist. Authoritarian communist regimes and fascist regimes are distinct ideologies, even if both can become oppressive.
And I agree that the Nordic countries aren’t socialist in the traditional sense. They’re mixed market economies with strong welfare states, labor protections, and public services. I’m aware that they are often considered socially democratic not democratic socialist.
But my support for democratic socialism isn’t based on wanting state ownership of everything. It’s based on the belief that essential services like healthcare, education, housing, and infrastructure should be organized around public well being rather than profit maximization.
And I don’t think capitalism is the sole cause of every societal problem, but I do think unregulated markets create incentives that can worsen inequality, healthcare access, housing affordability, and political influence by wealthy interests. The fact that corruption exists under other systems doesn’t mean capitalism is immune from criticism.

As for state power, that’s why the democratic part matters. Democratic socialism generally advocates for expanding worker rights, strengthening unions, increasing social programs, and regulating markets through democratic institutions, not establishing a one party state or centrally planning the entire economy.
I think the question isn’t whether markets should exist, it’s where markets work well and where they don’t. I think sectors like healthcare, education, and basic necessities often produce better outcomes when profit isn’t the primary incentive.
We already accept this principle for things like public schools, fire departments, roads, and libraries. Democratic socialism simply argues that there are additional areas where public interest should take precedence over market incentives

its okay being old is cool when i get old im gonna walk around with my hands behind my back and feed birds and offer wisdom like uncle iroh 🥹

It’s too scary to think about it for me I don’t want to ever grow old
