I can't stop

Imran Khan 😂 he lives near me. I’m in Rotterdam and he’s in The Hague. You know it’s pretty funny because even the Turks and Moroccans here would blast his songs in their car despite not knowing Punjabi.
Bewafa is universal , I understand why they like his music

is metalcore popular in the Netherlands
Not at all. I went to a metalcore show last year and I was the only brown guy. I felt uncomfortable because I thought the women were uncomfortable by my presence (I didn’t look at them but I saw a couple who kept looking at me). However that’s going to be a piece of cake compared to what I’m subjecting myself to next… :sadge:

yea I don't think a lot of brown men go to metal core shows :(, what are you planning to go to next

I am, my mom's sister married a punjabi guy 😭. They met when she came to the states for grad school
Oooooh. Makes sense. Your Marathi’s side or Kannadiga’s side? Next time you see him, say “ki gal e”.

My Marathi side, both my aunt and him live in Singapore now. What does "ki gal e" mean tho
It means “what’s up?” It’s a normal sentence. Don’t worry I don’t know any Punjabi swear words. I cannot speak Punjabi but that’s basically the only phrase I know.

okayy, I'll say it to him next time I see him. I didn't think it was a swear word, I was just curious

I think he’ll be pleasantly surprised to hear you speaking Punjabi. The only other Punjabi sentence I know is region-specific to northern Punjab in Pakistan, so I’m not sure if he would understand. Only those two sentences are the only Punjabi I know. Do you speak Marathi and/or Kannada?

He prob will, I've only ever spoken to him in English tbh. I used to be able to speak Kannada fluently but that's only cause my grandparents used to live w us. They moved back and I forgot, plus my parents wanted me to adjust to English. I can hold a convo in marathi, don't know it super well tho.

Is he Sikh or Hindu, btw? Interesting, maybe you can pick up those languages again. Meanwhile my family tried to get me to speak in Urdu but I would always speak in Dutch.

I'm acc not sure lmao, he doesn't seem to follow any religion devoutly. Have you tried learning Urdu? I feel like it's possible to pick up languages when you're older, you just need to be constantly exposed to them

Lol, a true ABCDesi. I actually don’t want to learn Urdu, I can already speak it on a conversational level. If anything, I want to work on my Punjabi so I can talk to my relatives. But not standard Punjabi, I want to be able to speak their dialect but online there’s no material. And if there is, it’s usually in the script that Sikhs and Hindus use, which I can’t read.

punjabi power!!
I hven't heard much of Karan in all seriousness, I like Shubh's stuff tho :peepoclap:
