i deadass cant go a day without picking my skin how do i stop

its actually so bad my skin would look fine without me picking at it bc i dont really have acne (i get it rarely) but since i pick at it it makes it look sm worse
how do i stop like deadass ????? its become a very bad habit i do it at least once everyday

Okay here are my remedies as someone who does it aswell and used to bit his nails.

1. Depending on the severity get something else to fidget with like fidget toys

2. If you pick at your skins because of bumps, .. get a polyster african net sponge (way better then loofah) paired with AHA BHA PHA bodywash this eill get rid of stuff to pick at.

3. Put bandaids / patches on yhe picking spots

4. Get a hobby like knitting or some shit to keep you busy when you have nothing to do so this becomes a habit instead of picing at your skin

5. Start vaping or smoking to replace habit

Summary ( replace the habit with a new one, create a barrier, get perfect skin so...
i need to stop completely how would that help
and its not like i get more acne after i do it my face just gets like red in those areas
Just stop yourself when you get urges and it will go by itself I used to literally eat my lips until I bleed from multiple spots I struggled on the first few days but then I stopped

ugh but bro i cant just stop like once i see myself in the mirror i get possessed and its been something ive done like everyday since i was 13 like fuck

No i’m saying it’s an option to fix it i gave plenty of other options can i pretty please have my solution now, the last option besides those is therapy
 
i used to have the sameee exact problem

you just gotta break the habit, it’s rlly difficult. this stuff is just what helped me specifically, it might not help that much if ur habits are a lot different than mine

identify when ur most likely to do it, and use that to ur advantage to try to avoid those situations. there were two mirrors at my house i’d always pick my skin in front of specifically, and even just being aware that i had a tendency to do it there made me more self-aware and able to stop myself more often. i’d keep the light off in the room that one of them was in so i couldn’t see as well and be tempted to pick my skin

avoid getting super close to mirrors so you don’t see your skin texture as well, which helps avoid triggering the skin picking. also avoid running ur fingers around ur skin feeling for bumps or anything (+it’s better for your skin to avoid touching it.)

and one of the most important things is to stop as soon as you realize you’re picking. even if you already made a gash around a forming pimple and you still haven’t popped it, just stop instead of continuing bc of a “well i already fucked up my skin” mentality
 
also you can try putting a sticky note on the mirrors you pick ur skin in front of, to remind u not to do it

Really good advice here, I used to pick at my arms and seeing it would be a big trigger for me so even just wearing long sleeves helped a bit as an example
