Because oxytocin is released from even things as small as a hug. Doesn't mean you love the person.
Obsession is being infatuated with the idea of a person rather than the reality of them. You can put them on a pedestal and convince yourself you need them, but in all reality they're not anything special for you. You don't care about them enough to go drastic lengths for them, they don't compare to the people you really love like family for example. Obsession will fade once it runs out of fuel.
