I am 19 years old, and I'm scared about how my life currently looks.

When I attended regular high school for three years, I had a lot of friends and a girlfriend whom I met when I was 15. We were together for two years. However, I eventually switched from regular school to weekend school because of severe stress and anxiety.

I was afraid to attend math classes because I was scared that if the teacher called me to the board and I couldn't answer something, people would laugh at me. Over time, this fear spread to almost every class where more was expected from me. Eventually, I left that school and transferred to a weekend high school. I will finish it next year. My stress related to school is much lower now, so changing schools did help me.

Since changing schools, my life has changed a lot. I broke up with my girlfriend, which I deeply regret now. At that time, I preferred spending all my time with my friends, whom she didn't like. Ironically, those friends eventually kicked me out of their group.

Right now, I don't have many friends. I basically have two close friends. One lives in another city, and we mostly play games, talk on the phone, and occasionally meet in person. The other one goes to the gym with me once or twice a week, but he is always busy, so it's difficult to meet outside the gym.

I haven't had a girlfriend for over a year. During that time, I talked to a few girls, but nothing serious happened. I don't feel good enough to be in a relationship, not because of my appearance—I receive a lot of compliments and I'm tall—but because I don't have a car or a stable job.

I'm constantly worried about work. I keep thinking: "What if I can't do it? What if I fail? What if I don't know how to do something?" I worked in a warehouse for one month, but I left because of commuting issues. Even there, I was constantly afraid of making mistakes, just like I was at school.

Recently, I completed a lifeguard course, but I'm still telling myself that I won't be able to do the job and that maybe it's not for me.

My life feels quite sad at the moment. I take care of myself, train regularly, eat healthy, and try to improve my appearance, but I spend a lot of time at home. I feel that it is becoming harder and harder to go out and meet people. I feel more shy than before and increasingly afraid of making new connections.

I try to go for walks, but even then, I keep worrying that I will never find close friends or a girlfriend and that my life will always look like this.

Do you have any advice on what I could improve to make my life better and become happier?

i understand how you feel, that feeling of being "stuck" its not really you been stuck its a complicated feeling of having no direction in mind

being socially isolated isnt good for your mental health and you mentioned having difficulties making new friends, as sure way of doing this is to going to clubs, like chess club, book club, football club etc etc

suddenly talking to people who you have a common interest with isnt so hard anymore, just talk about that topic and then develop into more person ones

>whats your name
>where are you from
>whast your favorite food etc etc

its completely okay if you dont have the energy to do anything sometimes, just dont let it become a habit
also stop stressing like the world rests on your shoulders because it doesnt, if you struggle with money ask your family, theres no shame as your still young

you have a whole life ahead of you, admiring that you taking yourself properly and you learnt that lifeguarding course

the thing you might want to focus now is getting a secure income through a stable job or a small side hustle, and consider cutting back on the small things to help that financial burden bro

its gonna be okay, you might not see it now, but it will soon; Take care of yourself man :peepoLove:

i feel you, you seem very anxious. i think you should see a psychologist and talk to him about it, cbt when it comes to social anxietylike yours can nip it in the bud. if you keep wallowing in despair you'll live a life of neetdom and its unfortunate
you're only 19 man genuinely you have so far to go, so many things you can do and people you can meet its never over
