i had a dream about a guy whose face was only light. i could never really see him, except every now and then, the faintest smile would peek through the brightness before it disappeared again. somehow, that made him even more beautiful.
he had soft brown hair that fell into a middle part, and i kept running my fingers through it because it felt as soft as his skin. he was kind of skinny, with pale skin that somehow still carried the warmth of a tan. he smelled like fresh wood after rain, clean and comforting, a scent i somehow still remember. his hands were soft, delicate, with gentle veins tracing across them, and holding them felt strangely familiar, like i had done it a thousand times before.
we lay beside each other in silence. i played with his hair while he listened to me as if every word i said mattered. nothing extraordinary happened, yet those quiet little moments were enough. that's what made me fall in love.
it made me wonder how much more love this world would hold if none of us had faces, only light. maybe we'd stop falling for appearances and start falling for the way someone makes us feel.
i think that's what happened to me. i didn't fall in love with a face. i fell in love with the softness of his hands, the warmth of his presence, the way he listened, and the quiet feeling that i was exactly where i was meant to be.
here are some pics that remind me of him:
