I pay 120 euro monthly for energy. Because bills are an expensive joke in NL. If you pay lower like 80 euros then you going to get a huge yearly bill. Last year I payed 1000 euros in July, now 840. So I "saved" 260 euros

So it's still a bit cheaper than France. During winter my gf was paying ~300$ monthly when she was living alone in her apartment.

Now she lives with me and i heat the house with firewood so i'm around ~70$ every 2 months even during winter

Ik what you mean by the yearly bill it's a fucking legal scam tbh it's just to attract new customers thinking they'll pay their electricity cheaper lmao

Dealing with unexpected charges or sudden payment withdrawals is always stressful, which is why keeping a close eye on your statements and doing a quick transaction ID check can at least help track where every dollar went and verify if any double-billing occurred.

that really sucks, I've been in that exact hole and it's the worst feeling in the world. Getting hit with a random yearly lump sum on top of monthly bills when you're already stretched thin is brutal.

Definitely call them ASAP though. Most utility companies would rather work out a partial payment plan or a temporary extension than deal with shutting you off, and they hear it all the time. Just be straight with them on the phone about what you can actually afford, even if it's small
