Background: I started wearing lifts at the start of uni which was about a year ago or so. Nothing crazy, yet about 3cm.

It's an annoying secret that you need to preserve everyday. At all costs you must avoid situations were shoes need to be taken off.

Issue is that I cannot simply stop. One of my better friends in uni is basically the exact same height as me when I wear lifts. It would be blatantly obvious for him (and others used to seeing us together) if I suddenly became 3cm shorter.

If nobody was around my height it wouldn't really be an issue as the discrepancy wouldn't be great enough for ordinary people to notice.

I'm trapped. Vulnerable in the face of social suicide.

Wear tall shoes then

You are suggesting I ditch the lifts and get shoes with a tall soles? I doubt that I could find anything (that doesn't look clown-ish) that could make up for my frauded 3cm. The soles on my current shoes are just slightly shorter than that of Air Forces for instance.

whats your height anyway
6'2. If I were shorter nobody would notice if I wore 3cm of lifts and then stopped. But since now that I'm among the tallest (with lifts) my height is already in the center of attention, making it even more difficult.

get 2cm lifts and downgrade slowly

I will probably do that. Not sure how I'll explain the gradual decrease in height though. Or perhaps I'm overthinking it and nobody in reality will notice. I could perhaps shittify my posture as well now, and improve it once the lifts are gone.
