Discussion If you could live your dream life artificially through a brain chip whilst your physical body is in a pod would you do it?

I’m living my dream life already
Sure u may be but u had to work for it all, what if you could just use the chip no effort at all and instantly have your dream life

If its 100% reliable and realistic then yah,

But your memories of the real world are erased for a fictional world is that really worth it, i mean nothings real at all

Where’s the fun in that? Instant gratification isn’t appealing to me.

Probably depressed cuz working towards it feels nice
But what if life hits a massive tragedy like a severe illness or losing everything? Is the satisfaction of 'working for it' still worth it when reality becomes unbearable, or does the chip look better then?

No because it’s fake

It’s like having a dream

We all had that one dream … it felt good but when you woke up it’s over …

at least i had the satisfaction of knowing that people never really achieved their dream life its just fake and no one will remember them irl since theyre in a pod

Ok how about i add on, once you die in the fake reality then you wake up from the pod

Does time pass normally or when u wake up youre the same age as when u got in the pod
Lets say 100 years in the alternate reality is 100 days in real life

Id do it instantly then
you are inside your own compiled, perfect simulation, how will you ever know if you actually woke up, or if you just coded a sub-simulation inside a simulation? Better yet, what if rn your in your own bugged creation of life that you made in a previous life

Fair enough
For me, it is the fact that i would be under someone else’s control in the simulation. And when/if i wake up from the simulation, im in the same exact position as i was before the simulation

no matter what I do in the simulation it’s still not real

Yes, its almost like having the best dream ever than waking up and balling your eyes out
