was going through a lot, as in a lot of physical and mental shit was happening to them for almost a year blah blah blah would that give you an excuse to stop showing them how to take care of themselves just because their behavior at the time was "unbearable" and pissing you off? (teaching them how to clean, do hair, styling clothes, basic things a parent should teach their child) Even if they heavily improved and are showing signs and actions that they're not the same person anymore?
Since they "didn't show respect" at the time, does that still give you a reason to leave them alone and figure things out on their own just because they weren't listening to you the year before?
