i'm 56 and still get claustrophobic panic attacks that feel like my chest is being crushed by a mallet whenever i think about death. trust me it gets much worse as you age. when you're young you can at least set it to the back of your mind. man when i first got my honest to god existential crisis in my 30s it lasted an entire week i barely slept. it devastated me. so far i've coped better with subsequent midlife/existential crises but it never gets better. you never learn to tolerate them well. people like carl sagan, niel degrasse tyson, richard dawkins, and other insentient midwit cockroaches put on a brave face and cope in public to feed their ego, but if you're extremely high sentience like me, obviously psychological coping mechanisms will never work. you will be exposed fully to the idea of death :hnghn:
