The elevator door closed jolting my mind a little "ahh that was it" - I realized. My gaze turned towards you and a small murmur of ehms and uhms came as I pulled on your jacket trying to wake up your dormant expression, an "elevator-state," you could say.
So sudden and unexpected this pull, you turned to investigate slightly confused and a hint of irritation in the air.
My mind trembles.
Oh, this is not the time.
"ehh - n-nothing" - I whisper, barely audible.
Fast look away. Ground. A lot of shoes. Too many shoes.
A kid?
He is clinging to his mother's leg, head turned like an owl.
Me? He looks curious. Confused.
"heh..he," I mumble. Awkward.
The look does not change, the boy is more invested.
I need to hide.
My hand instinctively rises to my mouth. This feels nice. A bit more up. "huuh huu.."
I feel the air coming from my nose, hitting the palm of my hand.
Comfort. Stop? The elevator stopped. So free.
My eyes brighten up, the room's pressure dissipates. I grab your arm and lean forward whilst taking a step
"so i was tellin.."
"This is not our floor." You say promptly.
"uhh, ah yeh?" I whisper.
Slight confusion.
This never happens to me. Odd.
Well. That was a bit... awkward. I look up. Calm. Why am I calm?
The boy?
I look down. He is still looking. He tugs his mother closer.
"Honey, what is it?"
"uhm... i-i.."
Monster.
He has seen... a monster.
