idk if this already has a name but I'll call it forced negatives


usually when you hit failure you should be finishing with a couple partial range of motion reps.

but you could still be doing more on certain exercises for instance any single handed cable arm exercise.

this is done by using your other hand to assist the positive portion of the rep, then completing the negative with the failing hand. because you are stronger on the negative portion of the lift than the positive, this technique allows you to extend the set beyond muscular failure, inducing a greater growth stimulus.

Isn't this just going to failure but the correct way? I heard a few people talk about this I forgot who tho
I think failure on the positive half is the accepted definition for most people, kind of self evident because for the big 5 compound lifts this technique isn't possible and the gym is typically seen as an individual sport, so it's not assumed you have someone to assist you.
 
Too complicated for something that will make like a 1% diff In gains
I'm not saying it's not a little awkward but I would encourage you to try it out yourself. and I get your point but think 1% is a little pessimistic
