What does irony mean? Why is it difficult to be ironic? Imagine irony as a puzzle: it requires three things:

- a moving “ironic subject”, not stable, because if it were perceived as stable, it would be perceived as common (that is, not very equivocal) and would not react with the object
- a stable “ironic object” that corresponds to the equivocation that must be perceived literally
- a juxtaposition of the two that obviously doesn’t correspond to the sum of ‘subject+object’

Most people just see irony in a two-dimensional way and consequently fail to grasp the nuances.

P.S. just a test

You are free to ask questions

A lot of people just think irony is saying the opposite, like “Oh, fantastic” when it’s obviously awful as fuck. But real irony is more alive than that imo. It’s like you’re throwing a signal that can shift depending on context, your tone, the relationship you have with whoever’s listening. It’s not just a simple ass joke.
Most people don’t pick up on it because they expect everything to be either literal or obviously sarcastic(black and white vision). They can’t hold both ideas in their head: the stable surface and the moving intention. And that’s why irony feels almost like a private code you have to trust the other person is sharp enough to see the gap. most people are too retarded to even make funny jokes. I can't believe NPC aren't real

The perception of irony is of course context dependent, I have simply de-structurised the concept

I take it means clueless agent, who takes an act to some subject(or ideal), unaware that the act itself undermines or contradicts his original stance/opinion.

It's just the discrepancy between intention and outcome, visible to the audience but not to the agent.

Not just that

Too many words dnr

I'm not going into depth; that's all irony is. A contradiction phrased in a witty manner.
Try to imagine irony not as a contradiction but as a wet sheet superimposed on a dry but not coinciding sheet

You will see the structure of both sheets

Yeah, I meant that it emerges normally like this. You can be ironic without being unaware, then usually you just highlight a new emergent meaning that comes from this mismatch. Is that what you mean?
You cannot just highlight it because perception is not limited to your highlighting

The emerging meaning must not be explicit but implicitly explicit

I don’t like formulas either it works or it doesn’t
