Yesterday, I posted two threads, one about the best age to have kids and the other about marriage. Many people spoke so negatively about both, mentioning divorce, absent fathers ect..ect.

That had me thinking, what about 2 mothers? 2 wives? Would the marriage last longer? Would it be better for the kids to have to women nurturing them? And would worries about, abuse, abandonment and divorce be less prominent? I think the only con is that, becoming parents as lesbians costs way more money.

The divorce statistics for lesbian marriages says otherwise.

here's multiple sources

CDC National Survey (2010 NISVS) – Lesbian women: 44%, Bisexual women: 61%, Heterosexual women: 35%

CDC – National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey

Systematic Review (Breiding et al., 2013) – Lesbian: 43.8%, Bisexual women: 61.1%, Heterosexual women: 35%
PMC – The Prevalence of Intimate Partner Violence Among U.S. Women

Study on prevalence ranges (physical 17–45%, sexual up to 50%, psychological 24–90%)
Medical University of South Carolina – Fact Sheet on Lesbian IPV

Turrell (2000) review – Physical: 8–69%, Sexual: 5–50%, Emotional: 65–90%
Sociological Research Online – Lesbian IPV Review

Underreporting due to stigma, fear of outing, discrimination
American Progress – Domestic Violence in the LGBT Community

Your gender is not the sole deciding factor in whether or not you'd be a good parent. To me the gender matters very little.

If your child is of the opposite sex, you'd still want to find them a role model even if it's not the kid's dad/mom. In the case of two lesbians having a son, it'd be important for the son to have a male role model, and vice versa. There's just too many differences between someone's gender that it can cause issues if the child is mainly parented with the opposite gender with no additional adults to role model off of. Even the most educated parents can't account for a lot of stuff. Normally it can be an uncle or an aunt or something.

watch her find some cope to deny the stats

That isn’t even the half of it. The domestic abuse demographics are preposterous.

I've already said the gender is not a big factor, but it has to do with role models.

A little girl getting her period for her first time while having two dads; the dads can be sweet, educated, loving, but it's not the same, because they will never understand what it's like to have a period. Having an aunt or someone who would, for example, is important. It has to do with not making the child feel isolated or forced into a box they don't feel like they fit in, because the genders are too different.

Real answer. Looking at studies using the average of various cases - turning real lives into numbers and flattening the distribution won't give you an answer. If two mothers are well meaning people they will raise a kid much better than average hetero normative couple..
