Technically your brain burns calories when thinking HARD* (like super duper hard), often see chess players sweat after hours of planning ahead in multiple games

But it’s not as significant as cardio where you’ll reap proper benefits

I play chess I went to tournaments and joined clubs back in 2023 to 2024, it’s easy enough to learn to play hard to master on the way up

Studying all day everyday for multiple days/weeks on end during something like exam season could do the same. Some studies about it, look it up if u wanna receive further information. I’d never rely on it when it comes to planning caloric intake and output for body recomp though, since you can hardly make calorie estimates for it like you can for cardio.
