And plus, its not really about whats said in the bible, its about people thinking that there is such a thing as absolutely moral or absolutely immoral. It doesnt matter if some radical preacher says being gay is okay despite the bible contradicting that as long as the congregation goes along with it. And the congregation, due to modern progressivism, probably already has lgbtq sympathies, making it even easier to sway them. My parents, who are catholic, are indifferent towards lgbtq people, for example.

What would be ideal is if everyone adhered to a certain objective moral framework like deontology or virtue ethics, but this is not realistic at scale. Religion is the best option in my opinion. Specifically buddhism is best of the major ones.
